Individual project
Reimagining modern and analog user experience at the historical museum and cathedral.
Goal
Create a unique experience on the customer journey while providing meaningful user takeaways.
Overview
We learn a lot by traveling around the world; each country's unique history delivers fresh insight and inspiration.

The Duomo Museum (Museo del Duomo) is located inside the Duomo cathedral (Duomo di Milano) in Italy. It showcases a collection of marble sculptures and paintings that date back over 600 years. Visitors experience the awe and admire the beautiful colors of sacred stained glass and artworks. I visited the Duomo di Milano in 2016 with a friend and was amazed by the magnificent cathedral when I stepped out of the subway station. It was one of the most beautiful architectural wonders I had ever seen, and I especially loved the delicate yet geometric motifs that adorned it.

I was thinking, how can I make this experience more immersive and memorable for the younger and older audience who visits the cathedral?

Idea
Module Type Motifs
The custom type-modules were inspired inspired by the gothic motifs of the Duomo cathedral. I have illustrated in 3 steps to simplified it to use as a geometric module shapes. Each letter design produced by the generator will be used in the museum's branding deliverables across various applications.
Process
Process Video
Duomo Module-type generator was created in p5.js. As a first time coder it was interesting how I can design each UI directly within the code language.
Product
The Ticket Machine
The primary touchpoint with the audience is a ticket purchase machine, where visitors can interact with the Duomo module-type generator by typing their name for their exhibition ticket. The generator offers 12 module shapes, and visitors can control their size, density, rotation, and background colors. Visitors will receive a uniquely designed ticket as souvenirs before entering the cathedral and exhibition.
Quick Ideation
Quick Ideation sketches to visualize the UI components for the ticket machine interface.
Typography
I have chosen Marian Black font as a base typeface for this project. A delicate gothic typeface that perfectly fits with the dainty cream marble architecture with six hundred years of history.
Ticket Design
A few tickets lay layout templates will give users choices for choosing the design they want. These are the examples that my classmates have made with the p5.js and Adobe illustrator.
Conclusion
This project helped me figure out myself, how I feel so much joy in closely collaborating with audiences, understanding their needs, and bringing their desires to life. The interactive experience of creating customized tickets using the p5.js art board has been immensely enjoyable for everyone involved. It has made me realize that by putting myself in the audience's shoes and designing products that truly meet their needs, the project can achieve success and bring unforgettable moments to them, which in turn brings happiness to me as well.

Next step
My next step for this project would be creating expanded deliverables and touch points such as web/app, banner flags, souvenir, and campaign posters. I would love to approach the customized module type ticket machine testers and collaborate with them with other deliverables as well to create cohesive exhibition branding experience.
