Goal

Overview
Story:
IDAT, a missionary ministry based in South Sudan, is dedicated to spreading God's word. Their original website, created in the 2000s, remained unchanged until now. Recently, they decided to revamp it to better connect with donors and volunteers.
Task:
Client does not have enough time to update the entire brand identity system, while retain IDAT's logo and core characteristics updating the branding and website to be modern, accessible, and timeless.

Collaborated directly with the client and partnered with a programmer to create a website from scratch using WordPress and Figma.
Progress
Problem
  • The ministry has experienced growth and is no longer in its initial stages, so the website should reflect its status as a ministry.
  • Existing donors consist mainly of American churches, organizations, and individuals, and new donors are showing interest.
  • Current website poses challenges: difficult navigation, lack of visual appeal, minimal brand identity, and outdated appearance that doesn't convey an active status.
The goal
  • Capture people's attention and engage them without making them search for information; ensure a well-organized layout.
  • It must convey that it is an active and vibrant platform. Create a central hub for all ongoing activities to ensure quick comprehension.
  • Revamp the brand identity for a fresh and upgraded appearance.
  • Make the website user-friendly to facilitate donation raising.
Research
• Interview
• User research: Pain points
• Market Research
Conducted interviews with a church leader (Senior Deacon) and other evangelical believers engaged in donations. Alongside this, I performed a competitive audit and researched innovations in the field.
My assumption that many people struggle with navigating church websites to understand their purpose was proven correct. It became evident that church donations often arise from personal connections, emphasizing the importance of conveying the ministry's mission and goals. People also expressed a desire to understand the leader's perspective. As a result, it’s important to present a website that expresses an active and dedicated atmosphere, presenting compelling, relatable stories alongside high-quality images to establish a connection with users.
